Broken links in Yandex Webmaster
Yandex lists clicks to dead URLs from Browser data. How that report differs from a live Chrome scan, and how to use both on .ru sites.
Yandex Webmaster has a report for clicks to non-working links. It is built from anonymized Yandex Browser traffic, split into internal, inbound (other sites pointing at your missing URLs), and outbound (you pointing at dead third parties). You can export CSV.
That is useful and late. It shows URLs people already hit. It does not show a JS menu you have not shipped traffic to, or an image src nobody clicked.
Use it with a live scan
- Export the Webmaster list. Fix high-click internal 4xx first.
- For inbound 404s with traffic, add a 301 to a real replacement, or accept 410 if the page is gone.
- Open the source pages in Chrome and scan them. Webmaster names the pair “from → to”; the scan shows every other dead href on the same template.
- Compare with Google Search Console 404s. The two crawlers disagree. Believe the live response.
Yandex documents the report under site indexing / broken-link clicks. The HTTP statuses in the table are 4xx and 5xx as last checked by their robot; if you fixed the URL, give it time to drop off.
This extension does not log into Webmaster. It checks the page in your browser. For a .ru site you want both: the click list for priority, the site crawl for coverage.
